CINCINNATI BELL TRIALS NOTIFY TECHNOLOGY’S INTERNET VOICE APPLIANCE

Residential Customers Will Receive E-mail Notification From Their Phone

CINCINNATI, OHIO and SAN JOSE, CALIF. – January 11, 2000 – Cincinnati Bell, a wholly owned subsidiary of Broadwing Inc. (NYSE: BRW) and Notify Technology Corp. (NASDAQ: NTFY), a leading supplier of innovative call and message notification products and services, today announced a market trial of Notify’s Visual Got Mail service and new eView 100 Internet voice appliance that enables Cincinnati Bell’s customers to view e-mail headers without having to go online. “We are constantly looking for new products that complement our existing offerings and enable customers to use technology to simplify their lives,” said Jack Mueller, President, Cincinnati Bell Telephone. “We are excited about the potential of this new time-saving product to provide our customers immediate access to their e-mail headers allowing them to decide whether to dial in to their Internet Service Provider (ISP) immediately to retrieve messages or wait until a later time.”Given a successful trial, Cincinnati Bell plans to make this service available to all customers as an optional value-added service. The eView 100 Internet voice appliance and the Visual Got Mail service enables dial-up e-mail users to see up to 10 new e-mail headers from multiple e-mail accounts established through either their Internet Service Provider(s) and/or e-mail service provider(s).  Residential users can check for new e-mail as easily as checking their answering machine or voice mail.  The device also provides Caller-ID information, as well as voice mail notification.

“Cincinnati Bell is an industry leader in providing unique and interesting value-added bundles to their customers. We are pleased and excited to be part of Cincinnati Bell’s efforts to help their customers take greater advantage of e-mail as a means of communication,” said Paul DePond, president and founder of Notify Technology.  “With the eView 100, home users can get notification at-a-glance on one small, affordable device allowing them to determine whether they need to go online immediately or at a later, more convenient time.”

How the eView 100 Works

With the eView 100, consumers will have their e-mail accounts automatically checked periodically without turning on their computers.  The eView 100 gives notification of up to ten new e-mail messages for up to five e-mail accounts by displaying the e-mail header which includes the specific e-mail account, the sender’s name, the subject line, whether there is an attached document and the total number of messages for that account.  Users can then decide whether they want to turn on their computer and read their new e-mail messages now or wait until later. The eView 100 helps users save time from checking multiple e-mail accounts for e-mail by giving notification for up to five e-mail accounts, such as work, home and children’s e-mail accounts.  The eView 100 allows filtering of e-mail based on contents of “sender” and “subject” fields.
