The eView 100 and the Visual Got Mail service enables dial-up e-mail users to see new e-mail headers from one or more e-mail accounts from their Internet Service Provider(s) or e-mail service provider(s).After signing up for the Visual Got Mail service, the low-cost eView 100 Internet voice appliance connects to the home telephone line and then configures itself. Residential users can see at-a-glance if anyone has sent e-mail as easily as checking their answering machine or voice mail. The eView 100 also provides Caller-ID information, and voicemail notification. "Bell Actimedia is constantly seeking products and services that allow us to exceed our customers' expectations and make their lives easier," said Ayman Ghali, Associate Director of New Product Development. "The eView 100 product integrates e-mail with voice mail and caller ID notification, and allows us to offer our customers a complete package of services to fit their communications needs." "Bell Actimedia is excited about one potential application of the Visual Got Mail service which would be HEADER MESSAGING. This would be a delivery system for short messages. In this way, consumers could be notified of information such as stock trades, auction bid results, news headlines, or appointment reminders with short messages that would be formatted to fit on the subject line of an ordinary e-mail message," said Peter Costanzo, Director of New Product Development. "Notify is happy to work with its first Internet service provider, Bell-Sympatico, to provide Visual Got Mail Service to its customers," said Paul DePond, President and Founder of Notify Technology. "We are also very excited about Bell Canada's new joint venture between Lycos and Bell-Sympatico which will form a joint Canadian portal. This joint venture will help in marketing Visual Got Mail Service throughout Canada.." How eView 100 works With the eView 100, consumers will have their e-mail accounts automatically checked periodically without turning on their computers. The eView 100 gives notification of new e-mail messages for up to five e-mail accounts such as work, home, and children's e-mail accounts. The eView 100 displays the e-mail header which includes the specific e-mail account, the sender's name, the subject line, whether there is an attached document, and the total number of messages for that account. The eView 100 allows filtering of e-mail based on contents of "sender" and "subject" fields. Users can then decide whether they want to turn on their computer and read their new e-mail messages now or wait until later. About BellSouth Corp.
