Notify Technology Introduces New Wireless E-Mail Service For Motorolas New T900 Talkabout Personal Interactive Communicator
Combined solution will provide mobile users with a compelling low cost alternative to RIMs "Blackberry" Internet Edition solution
SAN JOSE, CALIF. November 1, 2000 Notify Technology Corp. (NASDAQ: NTFY), a leading communications service and software provider for wireline and wireless notification and messaging services announced the availability of its new wireless e-mail service, called NotifyLink Internet. Notifys new wireless e-mail service has been designed for dial-up e-mail users who want to be able to access and manage their e-mail while mobile. The NotifyLink Internet service will provide users of Motorolas (NYSE:MOT) new T900 Talkabout Personal Information Communicator (PIC) with wireless e-mail notification and management. The new wireless e-mail service works with most e-mail providers including AOL, Yahoo, and all POP3 mail systems. Users will be able to use their existing e-mail accounts to use the NotifyLink Internet service.
NotifyLink Internet service can be used by all major ReFLEX two way messaging carriers, including WebLink Wireless, SkyTel, MetroCall, Arch Wireless, PageNet, TSR Wireless, and Bell Mobility. Notify is currently testing the service with several carriers.
"NotifyLink Internet now gives ReFLEX carriers selling Motorolas T900 new ammunition to compete with "RIMs Blackberry" Internet Edition solution." said Paul DePond, president and founder of Notify Technology. "The T900 combined with our wireless e-mail service provides a compelling alternative for many potential users contemplating purchasing the higher cost "RIM Blackberry" product as a wireless e-mail solution."
About the Motorola T900 Talkabout Personal Information Communicator
Motorolas T900 was released in May of this year, weighs less than four ounces and measures a compact 3.19 x 2.15 x 0.90-inches (about the size of a large pack of gum). The Talkabout T900 PIC comes in four colors and includes Motorolas proprietary Optimax® EL backlighting for the display and additional backlighting for its full QWERTY keyboard, which makes it possible to use the device in low-light conditions.
How The " NotifyLink Internet Service" Works
Users will register for the service via a web based interface typically linked to a specific Carrier. To set up the NotifyLink Internet service, users will specify each e-mail account they want to monitor and set any appropriate filters. Users can tailor notifications by defining a "header" which contains information about the e-mail such as account, sender, subject, date and time, attachment names, attachment sizes, partial body text, and remaining character count.
Once registered, the NotifyLink Internet service will check all specified e-mail accounts every hour. Users will have the capability to perform "on-demand checking" of any of their specified accounts at any time. Once the service determines that a user has new e-mail, a notification will be sent to the user using the defined "header". The user will have the option to see "more" of the e-mail body or "reply", "forward", or "delete" the e-mail and its corresponding attachments from the T900.
