Notify Technology Provides Shareholders With Business Update

Company reviews exciting new wireless service and Visual Got Mail pilot results

SAN JOSE, Calif. – August 3, 2000 – Notify Technology Corporation (NASDAQ: NTFY), an innovative Communications Service Provider of wireless and wireline notification and messaging services, today announced that it would provide shareholders with a business update. "Due to the corporate policies on press releases from our pilot customers, Notify has not been able to provide shareholders with enough periodic information about the progress of previously announced pilots and relationships", said Paul DePond, President and Founder of Notify Technology. "We are providing the following business update to our shareholders so that they may better understand Notify’s business activities and relationships. We would also welcome you to join us for our 3rd Quarter Conference Call on August 3rd at 4:15 by dialing (800) 624-6265 passcode: 00533."

Current Wireline Products:

Call Manager Product Line - This product line currently represents a variety of caller-id models ranging in functionality from simple caller-id to call waiting caller-id technology. We are seeing more sales opportunities because of our strong reputation for delivering reliable products in a timely manner. We currently sell our Call Manager products to Pacific Bell, Southwestern Bell, US West, Century Telephone, Alltel Telephone, and GTE. Centrex Receptionist Product Line – This product line offers several models of telephone auto attendants specifically designed for the Centrex business market. Pacific Bell is the largest customer for our Centrex Receptionist products and services but we are currently training Southwestern Bell and Ameritech sales personnel and hope to increase their sales over the next six months. Total revenue associated with our current wireline products through FY Q3 was over $3.4M

Visual Got Mail:

Our initial strategy was to focus on the large telephone company channel to pilot and launch our Visual Got Mail Service. We have since included Internet Service Providers (ISP’s) and the migration of the technology into telephones. Our Visual Got Mail service technology is designed to provide Notify with revenue from eView adjunct sales and monthly recurring revenue from the Visual Got Mail service.

Telco Pilot Update:

  • The BellSouth pilot had favorable results and we are working with BellSouth product management to plan a mass-market launch in early 2001.
  • The GTE pilot had favorable results but the merger with Bell Atlantic that created Verizon, has caused delays. In late June, we met with their new product management group and they are re-evaluating the pilot results to determine whether to move forward with a mass-market launch.
  • Cincinnati Bell officially launched Visual Got Mail service in May but have just recently began their marketing programs for the service.
  • The Century Telephone pilot is over and they are starting their analysis of the pilot, which commonly takes about 60 days.
  • The Bell Sympatico Pilot was successful and Bell Canada, the parent company, has been brought in to manage any proposal for mass-market rollout in Canada.
  • Alltel Telephone will start their pilot this month.
  • The Sprint pilot was successful and is proceeding to a limited market rollout this month, which could evolve into a mass-market rollout this year.

Internet Service Providers (ISPs):

  • AT&T WorldNet: In July, Notify signed a marketing agreement with AT&T WorldNet. Under the terms of the agreement AT&T WorldNet will offer Notify’s e-mail notification service, "Visual Got Mail", to all AT&T WorldNet subscribers. Notify will bundle the Visual Got Mail Service with its eView 100 Internet voice appliance to offer AT&T WorldNet subscribers a total e-mail notification solution. The current schedule provides for a new service to be initially offered to a limited number of AT&T WorldNet subscribers beginning in August followed by a full launch in late September to their 1.5 million customers.
  • EarthLink: We are currently piloting our Visual Got Mail and Internet Call Waiting service with EarthLink subscribers in the Brooklyn, NY area. The pilot started in mid July and will continue for 90 days.
  • We are currently in discussions with several other ISP’s.

Telephone Manufacturers:

  • We are in discussions with two large telephone manufacturers about licensing our Visual Got Mail technology. Under the proposed agreements, we would provide the Visual Got Mail service and they would provide their production capability and vast retail channel, which includes large retail and office product chains. In addition, we have offered to share a percentage of our monthly subscriber revenue to make the relationships more compelling.

Wireless:

As part of our transition to becoming more of a service provider and less of an equipment manufacturer, we have been developing a new service for the wireless market originally called nTouch, but recently renamed NotifyLink. NotifyLink is a device independent solution for wireless e-mail notification and access. Notify would provide this service to large wireless carriers and receive monthly reoccurring revenue for the service. We are currently focusing on supporting ReFLEX devices that are now supported by national 2-way messaging companies in North America, which includes WebLink Wireless, MetroCall, Arch Communications, PageNet, and SkyTel. Recently, we announced a strategic development relationship with Glenayre and their @ctiveLink ReFLEX module for the HandSpring Visor product.

Over the past months we have been working very closely with WebLink Wireless to enhance our NotifyLink product for use with Motorola’s recently announced product the T900. The T900 is Motorola’s newest ReFLEX two-way messaging device with a QWERTY keyboard and LCD display. Our potential WebLink relationship could provide a variety of benefits including joint marketing to their carrier partners (telephone companies and other 2-way messaging resellers), resale of the NotifyLink service, financial support, and most significantly, the validation that Notify is a player in the wireless market. In addition to WebLink Wireless, we are in discussions with several other national carriers.
