Notify Enhances Its NotifyLink Internet Edition Service to Support Research In Motion Wireless Handheld Devices

SAN JOSE, CA – May 14, 2002 Notify Technology Corporation (NASDAQ: NTFY), today announced that its NotifyLink Internet Edition service will support the (RIM) Research In Motion (NASDAQ: RIMM), 850/857 and 950/957 wireless handheld devices throughout North America. Now, RIM wireless handheld users will be able to access and manage their existing AOL, HotMail®, EarthLink, MSN®, Yahoo!®, among many other ISP and Web Mail providers, in addition to all POP3 and IMAP4 email accounts while mobile. The NotifyLink Internet Edition service was developed for companies and professionals that utilize outsourced email and/or “dial-up,” email users who want virtual real time notification, access and management of their existing email accounts using a wireless 2-way device. The NotifyLink Internet Edition service will support all RIM 950/957 devices, using the Mobitex network provided by Cingular Wireless in the United States and Rogers AT&T Wireless in Canada and all RIM 850/857 devices using the DataTAC network provided by Motient in the United States and Bell Mobility in Canada.

In November of 2000, Notify launched its initial NotifyLink Internet Edition Standard Version targeted at the consumer “dial-up” market focusing on individuals who utilize the Motorola Talkabout® T900 and the TimeportTM P935 using the ReFLEX network. This hosted service was developed to check a users email account for new email every hour, and then forward new email to the users 2-way device. The recently released NotifyLink Internet Edition Professional Version was developed to give the carriers the ability to customize different intervals to check a users email account for new email. These interval times can be set from 1 to 60 minutes depending on the Carriers service offering. Should users desire to check their email in between an interval period, the NotifyLink Internet Edition Version will allow users to “on demand” check any of their specified email accounts. Email users can now receive a virtual real-time wireless email notification without having to “log-on and/or dial-up” to check for new email. Now users can access, and manage their existing email accounts from their 850/857 and 950/957 RIM wireless handheld devices as well as the Motorola Talkabout® T900 and the TimeportTM P935.
"The NotifyLink Internet Edition meets a critical need for companies and professionals who cannot utilize our NotifyLink Desktop or Enterprise Server Solution,” said Paul DePond, president and founder of Notify Technology. "In addition, as new 2way devices enter the marketplace, Notify will continue to develop its NotifyLink Internet Edition to support these new devices."

How The NotifyLink Internet Edition Works
NotifyLink Internet Edition is ideal for companies or professionals who need virtual real time notification of their email. Users can read, compose, reply, forward, and delete messages from their wireless 2-way device while maintaining multiple email accounts. When emails are sent from the 2-way device, the email will appear as if it were sent from the users existing email address, not the 2-way wireless address.

Users will register for the service via a web-based interface typically linked to a specific Carrier’s web site. To set up the NotifyLink Internet service, users will specify each email account they want to monitor and set any appropriate filters. Users can tailor notifications by defining a "header" which contains information about the e-mail such as account, sender, subject, date and time, attachment names, attachment sizes, partial body text, and remaining character count.
Once registered, the NotifyLink Internet Edition will check all specified email accounts for new email during the preset times, from every minute, to ever hour on the hour. Users will have the capability to perform "on-demand checking" of any of their specified accounts at any time. Once the service determines that a user has new email, a notification will be sent to the user using the defined "header". The user will have the option to see "more" of the email body or "reply", "forward", or "delete" the email and its corresponding attachments from the wireless 2-way device.

NotifyLink Internet Edition is currently available on all major ReFLEX 2-way messaging carriers, including WebLink Wireless, SkyTel, Metrocall, Arch Wireless, PageNet Canada, Verizon Wireless, and Bell Mobility. In addition the NotifyLink Internet Edition will support any RIM 2way wireless handheld devices on a DataTAC or Mobitex network.
