Q: I have a new BlackBerry and I'm trying to download the NotifyLink software. I've entered in the wrong email address and it won't let me download. I can't correct my email address either as it doesn't’t give me the opportunity to do so.
A: Actually, this email address can be changed, but not at this screen. While in our NotifyLink Installer program, bring up the pop-up menu and select 'Advanced'. It's in this screen where you will see: Registration email:
Here, you can change your email to the correct address for use with NotifyLink. You should now be able to download our software and register.
Q: When trying to register my BlackBerry, I can only type in four characters for the authentication password. Then it says the field is full and I cannot finish typing in the password?
A: With the cursor in the password field, hit the menu button and select “enable multi tap.” That will allow you to enter the rest of the password.
Q: I'm trying to register my device and am getting an error that says the service book I'm trying to connect with is not on the BlackBerry. How do I bring service books down to the device?
A:
1. From the Home screen go into Options. (This is usually a wrench or gears icon.)
2. Select Advanced Options from the options menu.
3. Select Host Routing Table.
4. In the host routing table you should see a bold item. Highlight this, then click the menu button (button with the dots to the left of the pearl; on side trackwheel devices, click the wheel).
5. After doing this you will receive an SMS message from the carrier that states that the device is registered. If you go into Service Books you will now see the correct service book.
Q. I'm concerned about securing the information sent from my device to the intended recipient, is the information that NotifyLink handles encrypted to ensure security?
A. Yes. Whether information originates on the device or server, NotifyLink transmits “data-in-motion” in an encrypted tunnel so it is secure in transit. Additionally, communication between the NotifyLink HTTP/Web server and the device can be encrypted using SSL (HTTPS) to protect messages traveling over the Internet, thus providing a second layer of security for data-in-motion.
Q. Why are both Triple DES and AES encryption protocols offered as choices in the security IT Policy settings?
A. Triple DES was the standard FIPS compliant encryption algorithm until 2001. Then the AES encryption algorithm became the standard. NotifyLink supports both protocols and each is an effective encryption method for protecting information in transit.
Q: Right after getting a successful install pop up on my Windows Mobile 6, I get an error that says, “Error setup driver.exe.” What should I do?
A: Soft reset the device, then reinstall the NotifyLink.CAB file. You will no longer get the error and can register the device. |
