NOTIFY TECHNOLOGY ENTERS INTO A MARKET TRIAL
AGREEMENT WITH BELLSOUTH WITH ITS eVIEW 100 INTERNET VOICE APPLIANCE
Customers Will Receive
E-mail Notification at a Glance Without Going Online
SAN JOSE, CALIF. - December 1, 1999 - Notify Technology Corp. (NASDAQ: NTFY), a leading
supplier of innovative call and message notification products and services, today
announced BellSouth Corporation (NYSE: BLS) will conduct a market trial of Notifys
Visual Got Mail service and new eView 100 Internet voice appliance that enables customers
to view e-mail headers without having to go online. The BellSouth market trial is expected
to begin during the first quarter 2000.
"BellSouth looks for new products that complement our existing offerings and help
customers use technology to simplify their lives," said Terry Yarbrough, assistant
vice president of product management for BellSouth Consumer Services. "We are
optimistic about the potential of this new time-saving product to let customers
conveniently see what e-mail they have and help them decide whether to dial in to their
Internet service provider."
The eView 100 Internet voice appliance and the Visual Got Mail service enables dial-up
e-mail users to see up to 10 new e-mail headers from multiple e-mail accounts established
through either their Internet Service Provider(s) and/or e-mail service provider(s).
Residential users can see at-a-glance if anyone has sent e-mail as easily as checking
their answering machine or voice mail. The device also provides Caller ID information, as
well as voice mail notification.
"Notify is pleased to work with BellSouth to provide high standards of service and
convenience for its customers," said Paul DePond, president and founder of Notify
Technology. "The eView Internet voice appliance helps residential users stay in touch
with friends and family by notifying them when they have a new e-mail message without
having to repeatedly check to see if theyve got mail. It also lets consumers
manage their message notification more effectively by integrating e-mail, voice mail and
Caller ID notification in a single device, simplifying message notification and
eliminating clutter."
How the eView 100 Works
With the eView 100, consumers will have their e-mail accounts automatically checked
periodically without turning on their computers. The eView 100 gives notification of up to
ten new e-mail messages for up to five e-mail accounts by displaying the e-mail header
which includes the specific e-mail account, the senders name, whether there is an
attached document and the total number of messages for that account. Users can then decide
whether they want to turn on their computer and read their new e-mail messages now or wait
until later.
The eView 100 helps users save time from checking multiple e-mail accounts for e-mail by
giving notification for up to five e-mail accounts, such as work, home and childrens
e-mail accounts. The eView 100 allows filtering of e-mail based on contents of
"sender" and "subject" fields.
